I didn’t know anything about Excel before reading this book. After reading/studying this book, I am now creating advanced Excel spreadsheets and recently promoted because of this!!! I am also using Excel to do my home budget, payment tracking for my son, etc.

My mom asked me to get her a book about Excel that was "approachable as a beginner and not full of unreadable techie crap" - she has since told me that this book is exactly what she wanted, so take that as you will.No complaints here.

got this for a gift for my wife that started a new job with heavy excel use. she absolutely loves it. uses it daily. she already knew the basic functions and formulas but this allowed her to make more complicated tasks easy.

So far this book in the electronic form has been excellent at helping me develop my excel skills in lookups and pivot tables. If you read the text carefully and examine the figures, the answers become obvious. You must practice on a computer everything you read in the text. When you have a problem, you check back to the book and find the issue or error you made. I also previously used the ECEL 2016 Companion by Joe Thompson as the first book to get me off the ground in Excel again.

Starts out with super basic like how to open a spreadsheet and format. Ends up at recording macros and writing/editing Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).I needed help with learning how to use and write macros and this book gave me what I needed.There is a lot of information on keyboard shortcuts and tips and tricks too. If you need to work with Excel this book has a lot of information packed in it.

This book covers everything you would need to know. I wanted to really brush up on my excel skills and this was an amazing reference. I keep the book at work next to my desk as it is helpful and easy to reference the book when needed. It is organized wonderfully.

Do not purchase if you want to learn about excel instead of example it’s a lot of reading and it does not come with cd

There is a lot of information packed into this book. It's a great basic gardening book for beginners. It is also full of beautiful planting combinations and tips that will attract any level of gardener.

This book is super basic. It is divided into three main sections. The first section gives foundational garden advice (e.g., you should prune your trees! you should compost!) without giving much guidance on how to accomplish any of it.The second section gives twelve “garden recipes.” In other words, it offers twelve different landscape designs that are very space-specific. So, for example, there’s a front walkway design, a hot and sunny garden design for a rectangular space along a picket fence, and a deer-resistant garden design in the middle of a sprawling front yard. I like that each design gives helpful info like what plants to plant, when to plant them, when they will bloom, directions for planting, and a (very helpful) planting map. I was able to learn a bit about planning a garden in general, but, still, the designs are very site-specific.The third section gives twenty-five examples of container designs. I was excited for this section the most, because I’m trying to learn how to make visually beautiful container arrangements. But I found the examples in this section to be boring and mostly uninspiring. I did like the Fourth of July container (petunias, fountain grass, and gerber daisies) and the Midsummer Color container (dahlias, petunias, and sweet potato vines). But most of the designs looked off to me, like the proportions and color combinations weren’t quite right.I’m sorry to say that this book was not a favorite of mine. Too basic, yet too specific at the same time. And it doesn’t have much helpful information for either the beginning or seasoned gardener.

I'm an avid gardener who chooses to purchase plants vs planting seeds. When buying plants at most big box stores, you are buying the Proven Winner brand. So who better to give advice and share information and ideas with home gardeners? The authors provide experienced instruction on how to prepare your flower beds for plants and keep your plants growing. We invest a lot of time and money into making the outside of our homes beautiful with plants and flowers. Make your time and money count with expert advice. I've now planted two large butterfly gardens as well as several mixed annual/ perennial beds. This book saved me a lot of frustration by eliminating the guess work on where to plant and how to keep my plants healthy. It is a clear winner for all gardeners.

One thing I didn't realize before getting the book is that it's basically an ad for the PW plants. These are plants you can buy in garden centers I guess, but they are the most generic plants out there. The layouts are very classic garden magazine formulaic. I tend towards a more organic look and I like really interesting and unusual plants. The designs in here reminded me of something that would be staged in front of a business more than just a beautiful back yard garden.

I do get the feeling that Mr. Hutton really did love Freddie. However, after reading a few books and watching documentaries, I tend to believe that if Freddie hadn’t gotten sick, he would not have remained faithful/stayed with Jim. Who knows if he could’ve completely committed to any one person other than Mary. By most accounts, she was the love of his life and the one person he trusted and believed in. He’s quoted as saying she was his only friend and that he didn’t need any other friends and that it was impossible to replace her. If he wanted Things to be different for his housemates, he could’ve changed his will at any time yet he didn’t. I personally feel that he gave most of it to Mary because she always stood by him, was always there for him and believed in him and not because he felt guilty. Who knows what Freddie and Mary discussed? Only Mary would and she has been silent all these years. I’m sure it would make Freddie so happy to know that his faith in Mary was not in vain as she has not written a book exposing the privacy that’s Freddie so desperately wanted.

I read this after seeing Bohemian Rhapsody and it helped set straight a number of inaccuracies from the film. I went into the film not knowing much about Queen or Freddie Mercury, but I was curious to learn more. I didn't read too many reviews before going into the film, but I did see that there were quite a few negative ones. One of the complaints I read was that the way Freddie and Jim meet in the film was nothing like how they met in real life, so I decided to read Jim's story. (Spoilers to come.) I was surprised to learn that Freddie and Jim were already in a relationship before Live Aid and that Jim was visiting Freddie while he was in Munich. It made me feel very disappointed that the film acted as though Freddie still had some fixation on Mary at this point, when instead he seemed to be falling in love with Jim. Also, I learned that while Paul does betray Freddie, it happens much later than what the movie shows. I also learned that Freddie didn't know he had AIDS when he performed at Live Aid. So while in many respects I enjoyed the film very much, this dimmed my view of it a bit.But for the book itself, I found it a beautiful read-- one of the most wonderful love stories I've ever read. It must have been so hard for Jim to be treated as invisible in so many siutations because gay couples were so much less accepted at that time. I was amazed time and again by his patience with Freddie's mood swings. Yet in spite of Freddie's moodiness, they both seemed to have a deep and enduring love for each other. The end of the book is heart-breaking, particularly with Jim having to be forced so quickly from the home he and Freddie shared. I thought the book was well-written. It does seem a little disjointed in some places, but memories are like that-- they don't have the clear narrative flow of a novel. This is a story about what true love is.There is insight into Freddie Mercury as a person and some insight into his music as well, particularly into what he was working on in his later years and observations about h is work ethic, and musicians who inspired him. I also thought it was interesting hearing which of Freddie's songs were most special to Jim. Mainly the book is about Jim and Freddie's personal relatioship.Read this book-- you won't regret it.

This fascinating memoir of Jim Hutton's years as Freddie Mercury's boyfriend, "husband," as Freddie called him, shares intimate moments in their rocky relationship. It was fascinating to read Hutton's take on some events that are documented on film, and others that weren't. His struggle with Freddie's fame, as his 'gardener' to some, are poignant. Freddie's bravery in dealing with AIDS, as well as his fears and need for discretion amid the horrid British tabloid treatment, are saddening. That Hutton died in 2010 adds to the bittersweet memoir's tone, and his mostly hidden role in supporting one of the greatest rock musicians of all time. (Added note for my Amazon review; the book arrived in just a few days, all the way from the UK. A small paperback, but the text was readable, and the color photos are an added plus)

Well thought out plot, great characters. Lovely horses. What's not to like?The central plot is the world of the show jumping circuit with its often cutthroat pressures.Ms Beecroft writes with style and grace of a family whose dynamic takes a severe downturn. Folded into their story are people who add their own problems, and solutions.

This was a great read. I love anything with horses, but add in romance and I am hooked. The characters were well rounded and I loved how the matured as the story went on. Really nice book.

I expected that this was the third book in the series - but where were all the familiar faces (OK, names)? One finalky appeared, but I'm not going to tell you who or when.Enjoy the newcomers.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading every page of this book. The characters make you care about them. I love the long story line. A bit of a real life fairy tale that we all wish we could experience.

This was not a good read. It was too negative all together.

Big time gaps.

I loved the characters and the plot. My favorite bit is in Scotland. I cannot believe this work was done as a writing challenge. I am inspired!

This book got me injured. I was holding a horse for grass, as you do, so desperate to know what happened next in this story that I pulled my phone from my pocket to continue reading, absorbed in the fictional world and paying little attention to the nutcase at the end of the lead rope. Of course, horse spooked at who-knows-what and came crashing into my shoulder, leaving me with a nice bruise. And I still didn't stop reading.Well-developed characters, plenty of action, and a good balance of people/horse plot. Two characters are brought together in a serendipitous way, both drawn to the same event year after year, trying to navigate their way through hardships while repeatedly finding themselves crossing paths. It's so interesting to read not only a story that spans several years, but one that does so while incorporating a life that revolves around horses. This book had me hooked (and even featured a surprise for readers of the author's other books!).
