Very impressed with both the quality of the book and the projects included. The pages are printed on a very high quality, magazine level paper and the projects are fun, modern and up to date. The instructions are very clearly stated and the projects selected are varied and leave lots of room for creativity and personal style.

Fantastic book. We bought this to have ideas handy for rainy days, and it has turned into our go-to for any day. It was purchased for a 7-yo girl who is very crafty, and the book has plenty of doable projects. That said, I think it's probably better suited for kids a bit older. We'll be using this for a few years for sure.

So many cute and creative ides! My 10yr old loves this :) I iwould buy this book again to gve as a gift. It is very thorough and reaches lost of skill-levels.

The heroine, Beatrice, is new to the London hospital as she takes up a supervisory job in the ER. She’s trying to rebuild her life after a devastating loss of a baby and a husband. Daniel is also an ER doctor, but he doesn’t want to get involved with Beatrice, despite being attracted to her, because he feels all his focus should be on his four-year old son.But luckily, the son likes Beatrice and his mother likes Beatrice and he likes Beatrice so it’s all going to work out eventually. Yeah, she’s from a wealthy aristocratic background and he isn’t, but that all works out easily also.There are good people who both have suffered in the past and now are just working hard at their jobs and in their personal lives. I might have recommended giving the book a different title so that the reader had some mystery of how things were going to work out.I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I really enjoyed this one, despite the somewhat silly title! Having just had a new baby, I was looking for something light, quick, sweet, and easy to read. This one fit the bill exactly right. In a nutshell, it’s the story of two doctors who both have traumatic pasts as they learn to navigate a new relationship together, despite fighting it at first.I loved the characters, the medical setting, and the fact that the story actually delves into some deeper subjects such as pregnancy loss and mental health issues. I flew through this story quickly despite my current baby sleep deprivation. I could also relate to several of the issues presented in the book, which I really enjoyed.Recommended for romance readers!

I definitely enjoyed this book, though I must admit to skimming some sections. This was due to a combination of factors. On one hand the author did a great job of pulling me into the character's plight and making me very anxious to know how events were going to unfold. On the other hand she spent a lot of time on small day to day details, so that I became impatient for the story to move forward. Without doubt the descriptions of the setting and life in historic rural Wales were part of what made this book so good, but the author overdid these elements at times.I was also frustrated by the main character's failure to communicate important information to her husband and also her friend, Mrs. Jones. The fact that the main character couldn't speak didn't seem to provide adequate explanation for why she kept so much to herself. The story made clear that she had ways of communicating and making herself understood. So I didn't believe how long she waited to share what she knew.Despite these minor flaws, the book was gripping and vivid. I certainly cared about the characters, and I could easily picture the surrounding countryside. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical fiction with an exciting dollop of magic mixed in.

The Winter Witch is a bit different than The Witch's Daughter. The storyline doesn't span as many decades, nor does it travel the world. It's not set in modern times, but instead a couple centuries ago. It is just as wonderful, if not more so, than The Witch's Daughter.The village Morgana grew up in knows she's a little different. She doesn't speak, not because she can't, but because she just doesn't. She has powers that she hasn't been taught to control and that show themselves when the time is wrong. Her mother arranges for her to be married to Cai, a marriage that will take Morgana from home and hopefully away from the whispers. While she falls in love with the land immediately, it takes some time before she can admit her feelings for Cai. There's a force in town working against her that will stop at nothing to get what it wants.Morgana is a fantastic character. She may not speak, but she finds ways to communicate as best she can. She doesn't know how to handle the magic inside of her and she's smart enough to know that's a problem. She might have been impulsive as a child, but she has a little more control over herself now. Strong emotions are what bring out her magic. Even though the story takes place in the 19th century, Morgana does not fall into that submissive female role. She fights for herself and those she loves, doing what is necessary and right to save the people around her.Cai is not the strong, dominate male you'd expect from a period novel. He has a great respect for Morgana and views her more as his equal than his property. He wants to do right by her, something that he doesn't have to do according to the standards of the time. He's sweet and loving, and even though he misses his first wife, he is able to understand that she is gone, but Morgana is right in front of him. He's also willing to act however he needs to in order to provide a wonderful life for Morgana.Mrs. Jones is one of my favorite characters of the novel. Her personality is perfect and exactly what Morgana and Cai need in order to find a happy life together. Mrs. Jones fills in as Morgana's mother figure and gives her the love she needs to make the transition into married life as smooth as possible.The story itself was simple, yet beautifully done. It all centers around the love that Cai and Morgana have for each other, and how they will each stop at nothing to protect their life together. Morgana must fight the magical forces trying to separate them and Cai must fight the physical threats. They work fantastically as a team, both in the relationship and defending it.The Winter Witch is a wonderful, beautiful novel that will both tug at your heartstrings and have you sitting on the edge of your seat. It leaves a content feeling as the last page closes, one that lets you take a breath and relax. It's a lovely novel and Brackston is working her way onto my must-read author shelf. This is definitely a good book to read if you enjoy historical fiction with some magic and romance thrown in, this is the book for you.

I have a new favorite author now! Paula Brackston's writing is so much fun and easy to read. She is descriptive to the point you feel as if you are there without yawning of boredom when you read some stories that are TOO descriptive, over and over. While I wanted to push Morgana to get the nerve to speak and to move a bit faster, that was part of the plan was it not? I am now reading the Witch's Daughter, and this book is not letting me down either. I already have a couple of other books of Paula's waiting on my Kindle :) I gave my rating 4 stars, only because the ending, I felt, was kind of left hanging. Other than that, I couldn't put this book down!

I follow Emily's blog and could not wait to buy this book. However, after reading it cover to cover, I was mildly disappointed. She has a quiz for what style you are, and then proceeds to have almost all photographs (however gorgeous) mostly in the mid century modern, or boho style. There isn't much of any of the others. If she is so talented, why can't she feature a cabin in the woods styled up, or a cottage home, or traditional house? Isn't there anything else to decorate with besides books, leather mid century chairs, fig leaf plants, and naked human art?

I've been a fan of Emily Henderson since she won Design Star on HGTV years ago so I was happily anticipating her book and wasn't disappointed since her and I have a very similar style. I find inspiration and ideas all through this book but I can see how those with a minimal aesthetic or more traditional style would be disappointed. Emily's style definitely leans to mid-century and boho, as many reviewers have pointed out, and many of the rooms she designs and showcases fall into one or both of those categories. The inside look at this book on Amazon features many pictures that are true to those styles so If you aren't a fan of what you see there, don't buy it...there's a lot more of the same on the inside pages. One of the things I like best about Emily is that she sometimes thinks "outside of the box" in some of her design choices and I enjoy the unexpected quirkiness she can bring to a room. I like a bit of "organized clutter" on a bookshelf and think a coffee tablescape is a great way to make a living room more inviting. If you are into that, Emily offers some great tips. The only thing about this book that I didn't care for was the style test. If styling or designing a home is your vocation, it might be a good tool for evaluating a potential clients' style but it didn't help me and was a wasted chapter in an otherwise very informative book.

I should have trusted my initial feeling when I saw the preview images before buying. It is, as someone else noted, more of a book on how to arrange a space for a good photographic image. I couldn't imagine living in one room pictured. On a positive note, there are some nice color schemes and art. The style quiz, however, is a complete waste of time, with the answers making no sense at all. I will probably give this to someone younger who might be able to utilize the ideas. Style does not need to be defined. Buy and live with what you love, and edit out some of the old to make way for the new as time goes on. That works naturally.

I was excited to get this book, but was disappointed after reading it. It was (as other reviewers have pointed out) too focused on boho and mid century modern. Not enough variety of style. (Which reminds me: the style quiz at the beginning made zero sense in terms of how it was scored.) But, my biggest complaint about the book is that the rooms and vignettes felt overly cluttered to me. I'm certainly no minimalist, but too many of the spaces she photographed were filled with crap! I mean, who dusts all of those tchotchkes?? Too many just looked messy! The kindle version, though, was formatted nicely.

There is like 3 chapters of actual advice in here and then the rest of the pages are all weirdly designed room examples which I can't imagine any typical American house would appreciate or enjoy.

Wonderful book! I can't get enough of it. It has introduction to styles for beginners like me. No obscure names and unknown words, she explains everything. There are many helpful tips on how to combine textures, choose bright colors vs tonal palette, how to show off what you have, and make it feel like "your" space.It also helps you determine your style. I agree that the quiz makes no sense, but I could go through the list of styles and pick what I like about every one of those. It has plenty of inspiring photos of interiors with explanations of how it was done. It does have a lot of mid-century modern examples, but those are examples and I took them as guides, not as "go do this to your room". Overall, it helped me relax my "every surface needs to be empty and clean" standards and gave me a sense of how to make my house a cozy place.

I recommend this short narrative for anyone who wants to learn why certain food groups are good for your overall health. This book is not just for people interested in marijuana detox although it is written towards that end. An easy read, for sure. I have no regrets regarding this purchase.

Not a book at less then 10 pages. All of the information she gives you already know or can free online in. Do not waste you money.

I misread the book. I understood from the title that i would be able to pass a drug test within 24 hours. Instead the author talks about things already known. Worst three bucks ever spent. I wish i could get my money back. Fun read...hence the three stars.

Upon reading this book it was surprising to find out that this book really pushes for no-using marijuana. But if you are going to use it then the ways to pass the drug test are really simple and effective. Overall this book makes small subtle points as to how to pass the drug test but the biggest is to not even use it to begin with.

Ok, so I do not smoke weed at all. But when I came across the book, I was curious, if for no other reason than just to know who took the time to come up with strategies and what those strategies were. I was pleasantly surprised with the information. Right off, the author does not condone the smoking of weed, and neither do I. However, if you are by some chance in a situation where you need these tips, then this book could help. If you find yourself in a situation at a party where you gave in to peer pressure and threw caution to the wind and simply took a few pulls, then the very week after that Saturday you nailed an interview for your dream job, where your instatement is pending a drug test, then grab this book. It was not gripping to such an extent that I couldn't put it down, but it delivered on what it promised, and with a book of this nature, that is all that counts.

For her previous work than anything else. Sure Ms. Cromwell knows, with every fiber of her being, that she has solved the case. This is nothing more, really, than a few more crumbs. Took me, literally, half an hour to read. I'll never get that time back. She convinced me the first time.

I can understand how the case of Jack the Ripper becomes an obsession. And for Patricia Cornwell, it started when she first heard about the case and decided to write Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper--Case Closed framing the case with forensic evidence. Her conclusion - that Walter Sickert was the Ripper - met with a great hue and cry from the "Ripperologists" and now she is publishing a new book "Ripper: The Secret Life of Walter Sickert" in early 2017 with more details and some additional chapters.This Kindle Short (under 50 pages) is a teaser for the upcoming book and has plenty of "humble brags" - as in "who knew when I started that I would SOLVE the case" (my paraphrase) - which gets tiring after a while. There really is nothing new in this book and it serves as an advertisement for her upcoming book. But having said that, I think she's gotten enough evidence on Sickert that he could possibly BE the Ripper. It makes as much sense as any other theory out there.

I used to read Patricia Cornwell's books all the time, but to be honest,I grew weary of them. After listening to a positive review to her upcoming "Ripper" book on BBC radio, I was intrigued. When the opportunity came to pre-order "Ripper" I also ordered "Chasing..." as well. I'm so glad I did. It's concise, but thorough. I researched every fact and delved into as bit of sleuthing. Her arguments regarding Sickert are valid. She admits herself that our society will never know 100% who the Ripper was. Her 'guess' holds as much weight, and possibly more. Her investigation is top notch, she has a healthy appreciation for Sickert, has respectful to Britain's love for one of their native sons, has noted her own shortcomings, and you get a feeling that she doesn't enjoy dashing dreams with her divulging family secrets. But as she stated in a news article in London, "there's not a work of art that is more important than a life." I'm now off to read "Ripper" ... If it's marginally as good as "Chasing the Ripper", this should be a lovely read.

It's unclear what the purpose of this book is.Is Patricia defending herself in kind of a tacky way? Is she attempting to supplement her original book on the Ripper? Is she ramping up a buzz for a new Ripper book? She kind of hints at this at the end.I'm not sure what she's trying to accomplish, but I thought the insight was interesting nonetheless. I think, perhaps, she should just lay this one to rest if there's not new evidence. She seems genuinely frustrated and weary of this case, but exhibits a strong sense of duty in leaving nothing untouched. I think her critics are too harsh. I read the original book more than a decade ago, and I honestly thought she solved the case at that point. I thought it would be in the news and laid to rest. It was not to be.I'd love to see her do some other cases. JFK maybe? I like her perspective and drive.

Patricia Cornwell has lived this true crime story for decades. She has been diligent in pursuing leads, even trying trying to use modern technology to help with proof. Unfortunately, decades of improper storage and multiple contaminants have rendered no usable facts.Yet, she presents a formidable case. Fascinating!

I had never heard of any of the evidence for Jack the Ripper as presented by Patricia Cornwell. She puts forth a very viable argument against Walter Sickert. She backs it up with quite a bit of evidence! I enjoyed this shortened version so much.. that after reading.. I was compelled to purchase her full length novel! The bit that got me the most was the stationery. WOW! That was one helluva argument for Walter Sickert. Of all things.. an artist. Totally enjoyed reading this story! Cannot wait to dive in to her full length book!

I have never followed the story of Jack the Ripper. Since reading this overview of Patricia Cornwell's attempt at finding the truth I can't wait to read her book. She appears to have taken this seriously and I found her comments refreshingly candid.

A resounding defense of her already ASTOUNDING job of research and analysis. Don't listen to the naysayers, Mrs. Cornwell "shores up" even further a VERY strong case against Sickert--with evidence to prove it. She also addresses her critics' complaints with science and professionalism.

Not as intriguing as the Scarpetta series of novels. However, this being a non-fiction novel about the research that performed in trying to identify who the Ripper was. The facts that she was to gather which led her to feel very strongly as to his identity. This also took into account the conflicting arguments that she saw from people she talked to.
