Review

"Inception gets the art movie treatment, with a really nice paperback edition of the screenplay. There are eight pages of color concept art, and a ton of storyboards — plus a few of Nolan's own handwritten notes and diagrams. And there's an ultra-revealing introduction, in which Nolan gets interviewed by his brother Jonathan. For anybody interested in the creative process behind this film, this book is pretty much a must-have."- Charlie Jane Anders, Gawker Media, i09.com

As a big fan of "Inception", I thought it would be nice to own the shooting script. I do own about a dozen scripts in book format, and this one is the best -- mainly because it includes some bonus material (which I've listed below) that adds to the reading experience. Also included as a bonus:- Interview/Discussion w/ Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan- Nolan's Sketch of the Heist Timeline & Dream Structure- Storyboard Sequences- Concept Art - printed in color- PASIV (dream sharing device) manual

Cobb is a dream thief, hired by powerful bigwigs as a kind of corporate spy to ferret out trade secrets, not by sneaking into offices and tapping phones; rather, his job is to infiltrate the mind while the victim sleeps, and find a way to tap into his or her subconscious. He used to be the best, but now it turns out his deep-seated guilt at a past misdeed is coming back to haunt him in his dreams even as the real life consequences of his past are catching up with him while awake. The movie's intense, and keeps your mind racing while you're sitting on the edge of your seats. The screenplay reads extremely well, and has much of the same page-turning intensity - but gives you time to reflect on the precise plot and dialogue lines. There are a few scenes in here that were cut out of the movie - and I can see why, because they are always dialogue heavy scenes, explaining the mechanisms of extraction and inception or showing early stages of the planning that went into the heist into Fischer's mind. While they might have slowed down the story on screen, they do clarify things quite a bit, especially a couple of scenes in which Eames and Cobb and Arthur are discussing how and why they need to implant the idea of breaking up his father's company in 3 different stages. There's an intriguing interview between Chris Nolan and his brother Jonathan about the initial inception of Inception, and there are several storyboarded scenes. There's also what looks like a professional instruction manual for the intravenous dream device (that they carry around in a shiny suitcase). Highly recommended for lovers of the movie - it's always illuminating to read the screenplay of a film you've seen and enjoyed, and this screenplay is extremely readable. I've read several, but I found this one to be not only intriguing but fun. (The last time I couldn't put down a screenplay once I'd started was when I read Tarantino's initial script for Inglourious Basterds.)

It's the shooting script for Inception, but it also includes an interview with Christopher Nolan from his brother, Jonathan Nolan, and it also includes a few storyboards and concept drawings from Christopher Nolan as well. All in all, this was an excellent purchase for me because I love film stuff like this and I adore everything Christopher Nolan, especially Inception. I'd love to have one of these for Interstellar as well.

To have the plan to a great architect's masterpiece available for all those who find special interests in such, is a beautiful generosity. It's one thing to watch the film "Inception" it's another to read from the abundance of the body of work. One would think it just comes only with the final draft that eventually made the shooting screenplay, but no. It does come with a range of the creative processes it took; from an insightful conversation with Jonathan (his brother) to the diagrams hand drawn by Christopher Nolan himself to further illustrate his thoughts and the visual/physical manifestations of the concept to parts of the storyboard and also to more graphic illustrations to help describe the world which we entered when we first saw the movie plus more. This just goes to show you the kind of work required to make such an idea a reality. As a budding screenwriter and director, Nolan's works have always fascinated me and I have taken it upon myself to be a devoted scholar of his art vision.Recommended for not only every screenwriter, but all lovers of reading.

this book goes above and beyond. it features the amazing, multi-layered and completely readable script by christopher nolan. however, it also has storyboards, full credits for the film, an excellent preface and a PASIV device instruction manual. The PASIV device (better known as the dream machine) "instruction manual" is amazing and fun to look at. it's also very intricate and detailed. this book is really an essential purchase for anyone who wants to look deeper into the masterpiece that INCEPTION is. i think its one of the best published scripts i've ever bought.

I have a friend in prison who had to watch this movie with 50 other people. He had a very hard time following the intricacies of the story so I sent him the script and he loved it. I do this with movies which don't come on basic cable, which is all his prison has. At least there is something...he's very grateful.

I have yet to go through this book in its entirety, but from what I've read and glossed over so far, I'm convinced that anyone who considers himself a big fan of Inception, Christopher Nolan, or CNolan's film work, should purchase this. Why? Because first, you can get an awesome interview that his brother, Jonathan, asks questions of him and discusses the film. Second, you get a nice look at some storyboard images and sketches as well as some color art in the back of the book. Third, the script. It's tight, well-written, and very enjoyable. There's also some nice additions in the appendices. Enjoy away, Inception fans!

I enjoyed the movie, and i wanted to read the book to clear up a few things that I had a hard time understanding in the actual movie. This book will answer all question that a person may have from viewing the movie. I do not feel that a person will enjoy this book if the movie was not viewed first. This book is written as an actual script, not like a novel style. I needed a book to read on a long flight, and this book worked just fine for me.Flynt from Cleveland
