I took a chance in purchasing this book because there weren't any reviews for it. After looking at everything else available and reading the comments I thought this might be the best choice. I'm glad I went with this one. It's small enough to fit in a diaper bag and has an elastic band so it won't open up and damage the pages. It's spiral bound so it's easy to write in and flip through. It covers everything such as well visits, sick visits, places to write questions for the Dr., places to write Dr. advice and suggestions from appointments, illness records, milestones to look for, tooth chart with tooth names, dental visits, immunization records, x-rays taken, blood tests, other types of tests, allergies, accidents, surgeries, and growth charts. It also includes tidbits of information from what to have on hand for your first aid kit to baby-proofing the home. I live overseas and this is great for keeping my own record of my baby's health so no matter where we live I will know and remember this important information. Also because the book is small enough, I can easily take it with us on trips and have this information available should something happen while we're away from home. No matter if you move around or stay with the same doctor for your child's whole life, I think it's good to have your own written record of your child's health. The day after getting this book for myself I ordered another one for my husband's cousin who just had a baby.
After six years of using two of these journals I'm fed up with the format. If you want a baby book with a predefined template for "milestones" and advice maybe this is a good choice, but if you simply want a journal to track doctor visits and illnesses, you will find this severely lacks adequate space to write important details, plus the organization is maddening. The separate and scattered sections for "well" visits vs. calls to the doctor vs. doctor visits vs illness record is cumbersome to use. A simpler configuration with fewer categories and more generous space for notes would go a long way. The interspersed sections on birthdays and activities just get in the wayAlso, the elastic band that serves as a closure on the book stretches out after a few years, and becomes an annoyance.I wouldn't pick this journal again if I were starting with a new kid.
Very practical and exactly what I was looking for. It's big enough to write ledibly but compact enough to keep in the diaper bag to always have on hand for doctors visits. I like the sectioned off tabs, the areas for well check visit notes, the extra pages for calls/visits to the doctor and the illness record. This will make it easy for me to keep all of her health related information in one spot for easy reference and the hard cover and binding will help it last for years to come. Very pleased and glad I found this.
Love it! Has all the important information needed to be filled in by you. I have been a little lazy these days and been meaning to attach photos but I have not gone to get print pictures, but there is pages dedicating to attaching a pic of course you need to use double sided tape or glue dots. I also love that it is a spiral not like the others I saw the pages are binded and I don not like that.
This is not your typical cutesy record book. It is actually functional and cute at the same time. Has lots of space to record milestones and important information like immunization and the all-important "firsts" -- good to have only if the parent remembers to fill it in! Good for when your child is going to enroll in Kindergarten and they ask questions about when the child first walked, talked, ate etc. It goes all the way to 12 years old!
This book is great - I am a first time mom and want to be organized about keeping my child's medical information. This book has sections for everything from the child's birth information to questions that you want to ask at doctor's visits and immunization records. It is just the right size, easy to put in your diaper bag when making a trip to the doctor's office. There is no frou frou stuff, which I read in someone else's review, which led to my purchase. I am very satisfied with the book.
Products like these are extremely difficult to find to suit everyone's needs. The size was probably the biggest downfall for me. I was looking for something a little more compact to fit in the diaper bag and travel to and from appointments, grandparents, etc. But overall, the content is acceptable.
This book is very handy and described accurately. I like that it goes up to 12 years, and has detailed pages for well child visits.My only complaint would be the size--its a bit too small. Sure, it is nice and small to carry around, but I don't want to carry it around. I would rather have a bigger version that I could leave at home, with more room for notes (it gets kind of uncomfortable writing extensive notes on the tiny pages) and it would be great if there were pockets to place handouts from the doctor, etc.
