As an avid amateur violinist and a new Kindle owner this book caught my eye. As it turns out it is very well written and being written over 120 years ago it is well worth the read for the vocabulary alone! I have read a number of violin history books but somehow this one takes me right into the thinking behind those early violin makers. I am British, as is the writer , so there is a good chance that I might enjoy the writing style more than someone not born into that culture. Anyone remotely interested in the history of the violin family cannot go wrong giving this book a go. But be advised, it was written in the 1800's, and you will be amazed at the going rate for a Strad back then!
